The public prosecutor has sentenced a Bulgarian man Dimitar Nikolov Iliev to 12 years in prison for stealing user data ATM in Kuta, Bali.
At a hearing on Tuesday in the Denpasar District Court, Judge Achmed Peter Sili also asked Iliev to pay a fine of 100 million rupiah (US$ 7,389) or undergo an additional six months in prison.
Achmed said, "the suspect was found guilty of intentionally stealing and unlawfully by breaking into the security system and access the computer data or electronic systems."
Iliev is accused of stealing ATM customer data with his friend Andrey Kolev from the ATM 4163 Laksamana, Kuta on December 7, 2014.
He broke the padlock on the back of the cash machine and replace the original keypad canopy with another that has been equipped with a camera to record the customers to enter a PIN when making transactions.
The suspect is alleged to have set up the camera, steel pipes and routers installed in the camera to immediately transfer customers data and enable criminals to steal their money.
Hundred of dollars lost as a result of Iliev crime. Two victims James Worboys Gais and Jacqueline S Campbell lost $232 and $370.
Meanwhile, Antscha Hodge lost her credit card once used by the suspects to illegal transactions. A letter from the Police Liaison Officer (BKA) said the total loss of $6,278.
