Visitors feel a different atmosphere when visiting Jakarta Fair during Ramadan

This year at The Jakarta Fair, an annual event organized to attract shopping enthusiasts with a great sales, had given the visitors a different atmosphere because this event took place during the fasting month of Ramadan.

Many visitors said it was less fun for them to visit Jakarta Fair at noon during Ramadan, because they are not able to enjoy the culinary delights during their visit as they are fasting.

Junaidi from Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, said he couldn't enjoy the many attractions offered at the event. "I can not enjoy the cuisine available even after breaking the fasting in the afternoon. I prefer doing Tarawih (the evening prayer of Ramadan) instead walk around the stands booth. As a Muslim, I want to improve the quality of my worship during Ramadan," said Junaidi.

Meanwhile, Wiyardo Mulyono from Depok, West Java, said that he could not visit the event in the evening because he had to accompany their children to do the Ramadan religious activities in the mosques. "In addition, we must perform tarawih together," said Wiyardo.

Wiyardo further said, it seems reasonable if less popular when compared to last year. "Today I have seen less visitors in the afternoon compared to last year's event," he said.

Jakarta Governor, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok), Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo and Director of the Jakarta International Expo, Prajna Murdaya, jointly open the 49th year of the Jakarta Fair on Friday, to celebrate the 489th anniversary of the city. This annual event will held from June 10 to July 17 at the Jakarta International Expo in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

It is expected this year the Jakarta Fair will attract 5 million visitors and with a list of transactions valued at 5,8 trillion rupiah (US$436,58 million). A total of 2,700 companies have a booth at the fair, along with 150 musicians will perform to entertain shoppers.
