The flash flood and landslides have killed 24 people in Central Java, forced the residents to flee to safe areas during a torrential rains that damaged thousands of houses, officials said on Sunday, June 19.

Rescuers are still searching for 26 people who are still missing after the area is one of the most densely populated regions hit by heavy rains during the night.
"A torrential rains has caused the flooding and landslides in 16 districts in Central Java," said the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) spokesman, Sutopo Nugroho, said in a statement.
He added that the rescue team from the military, police, non-governmental organizations and volunteers have to deal with emergencies. Meanwhile, the search continues to find those who are still missing.
